[ET Net News Agency, 7 May 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$165.77 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$22.59 billion, or 13.63% of the market's turnover. There were 777 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and CATL (03750) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.17 billion and HK$972.07 million, or 5.16% and 4.3% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 12% and 40.91% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$889.81 million and HK$705.98 million of short sales, accounting for 3.94% and 3.12% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 10.7% and 6.45% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$5.8, or 4.32%, to HK$140. CATL ended down HK$15, or 2.24%, to HK$654. TRACKER FUND rose HK$0.48, or 1.83% to HK$26.78. TENCENT jumped HK$16.2, or 3.5%, to HK$479.2.
