[ET Net News Agency, 8 May 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$145.54 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$21.12 billion, or 14.51% of the market's turnover. There were 797 short-selling stocks. XL2CSOPHYNIX (07709) and BABA-W (09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.23 billion and HK$980.6 million, or 5.84% and 4.64% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 41.81% and 24.08% of respective stock's turnover.
CSOP HS TECH (03033) and POP MART (09992) registered HK$966.77 million and HK$726.2 million of short sales, accounting for 4.58% and 3.44% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 18.94% and 15.94% of respective stock's turnover.
XL2CSOPHYNIX closed down HK$2.42, or 3.15%, to HK$74.46. BABA-W ended down HK$2.1, or 1.49%, to HK$138.8. CSOP HS TECH fell HK$0.058, or 1.16% to HK$4.952. POP MART jumped HK$8.2, or 5.06%, to HK$170.4.
