[ET Net News Agency, 12 January 2026] Full-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was
HK$306.22 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$42.79 billion, or 13.97% of the
market's turnover. There were 819 short-selling stocks. XIAOMI-W (01810) and BABA-W
(09988) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.53 billion and HK$2.49
billion, or 5.92% and 5.83% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions
represented 31.09% and 9.95% of respective stock's turnover.
CSOP HS TECH (03033) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$2.42 billion and HK$1.98 billion
of short sales, accounting for 5.66% and 4.62% of the total short sales values
respectively. The transactions represented 33.89% and 11.56% of respective stock's
turnover.
XIAOMI-W closed up HK$0.92, or 2.43%, to HK$38.74. BABA-W ended up HK$7.8, or 5.32%, to
HK$154.3. CSOP HS TECH rose HK$0.175, or 3.14% to HK$5.74. TENCENT jumped HK$12, or 1.96%,
to HK$623.
