[ET Net News Agency, 6 May 2026] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$165.87 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$24.76 billion, or 14.93% of the market's turnover. There were 796 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and TRACKER FUND (02800) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.89 billion and HK$1.82 billion, or 7.61% and 7.36% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 19.48% and 26.01% of respective stock's turnover.
SMIC (00981) and XL2CSOPHYNIX (07709) registered HK$1.47 billion and HK$1.11 billion of short sales, accounting for 5.92% and 4.5% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 12.42% and 40.98% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$5.2, or 3.96%, to HK$136.4. TRACKER FUND ended up HK$0.22, or 0.85%, to HK$26.24. SMIC rose HK$6.65, or 9.39% to HK$77.45. XL2CSOPHYNIX jumped HK$10.84, or 18.07%, to HK$70.84.
